Irony

Today I got a call about a job opportunity in Chicago.  It sounded like I would be a great candidate.  Then the recruiter asked me what I got on my ACTS.  I told her a 23 or 24 I don't really remember to be honest.  She then said I had to have at least a 28 to be considered for the position.  28!  Really!  First of all I took the ACTS 6 years ago.  Second I have a MASTER'S in business!  But nope I am not qualified for the assistant position because I did not score at least a 28 on my ACTS.  Good thing I went to college so that I can get a good job!  What irony.

Out of the Carpet Bag

One of my favorite movies growing up was Mary Poppins.  I loved the big carpet bag that held surprises that just kept coming.  You never could tell what was coming next.  In creating my own line of crafts and homemade items I hope to carry over the same idea.  I hope that you will check back often to see what new item I am offering.  To start this new line I am excited to showcase three of my favorite new trends: tutus, chunky felt flowers, and dainty satin flowers.  Each come in a variety of colors and sizes.  To purchase simply comment and let me know what you are interested in.  Shipping is included in the listed price.  If you don't see a color that you like let me know and we can work out a custom order.  Enjoy!

Roman Holiday

At the end of November or the beginning of December, I made a comment on facebook that I was thinking about being a nanny in Italy.  It was mostly a joke just to see what people would say, but then I really started to look into it.  I found a website where nannies / au pairs could connect with families looking to hire.  There was one family in particular that just look so sweet and friendly.  It was the only family that I would have truly been interested in working for.  Well several weeks went by with out hearing anything back from then, until two and a half weeks ago.  They wrote back saying that they were interested in hiring me to take care of their two little girls.  Since then it has been a whirlwind but I have decided to take the position and move to Rome for three months!  We are now waiting on the Italian government to grant me a work visa so that I can stay longer than 90 days.  I will leave sometime between now and Feb. 11th.  I am so excited about this opportunity and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for me over there.  The family lives in the city center of Rome about a 5 min. walk from the Vatican!  So instead of my usual sign off I will say

Ciao,
Peggy

New Year New Record.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  A new year always means a time to set new goals and to evaluate the past year.  I would like to point out that in 2010 I had more blog posts than any other year!  A new record!  In 2011 I will try to again keep this blog updated on a semi-consistent basis.  No promises though.

I have set a few new year's goals, not resolutions as that world kind of intimidates me.  They are as follows:

  1. Eat healthier
  2. Exercise more consistently
  3. Read more books for enjoyment
  4. Read the Bible from start to finish
I know they sound a little generic but I have a plan set out to make them more specific.  So what are some of your new year's goals or resolutions?  I love hearing how others are hoping to make this year better than last year.
